Vauxhall Corsa-e
The Corsa has been Vauxhall’s best-selling car for many years, with over 2.1 million Corsas sold in the UK since it launched in 1993.
The Corsa-e, launched in 2019, has a 205 mile range that can be extended by up to 40 per cent in Eco mode. The battery can be charged to 80 per cent capacity in 30 minutes at a rapid-charge station. The Corsa-e sprints from 0-31mph in just 2.8 seconds and reaches 62mph in just 8.1 seconds.
Corsa-e drivers can choose from three drive modes: Normal, Eco and Sport. In Normal mode, the 50kWh battery allows a driving range of 211 miles. Sport alters responsiveness and delivers more performance, which result in a moderate loss in driving range of around 10 per cent. In Eco, the Corsa-e adjusts the car’s systems and electric drive are adjusted for maximum energy efficiency, increasing the range by up to 40 per cent from Sport Mode.
In order to further improve efficiency, the Corsa-e features a two-level regenerative braking system to recover the energy produced under braking or deceleration.
The Corsa-e charges via a cable that can connect to a wallbox or fast charger (and the battery is guaranteed for eight years) and is equipped as standard with an 11kW on-board charger.
Safety features include the Traffic Sign Recognition system which detects signs (including LED signs) via the front camera. Lane Keep Assist (a Corsa-first) applies gradual corrective steering and makes the driver’s seat vibrate if the car leaves its lane unintentionally whilst Side Blind Spot Alert uses ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers to alert the driver to the presence of moving objects in the blind spots either side and to the rear of the car. The Corsa-e also offers two emergency braking systems and Drowsiness Detection warning facility.
The Corsa-e also includes parking pilots for the front and rear as well as a Panorama Rear View Camera which increases rearward visibility by up to 180 per cent.
Choices in terms of the Corsa-e’s infotainment system range from the Multimedia Radio and Multimedia Navi with 7-inch colour touchscreen, to the top-of-the-range Multimedia Navi Pro with 10-inch colour touchscreen. The Multimedia systems are compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and feature control via integrated voice recognition.
2021 saw Vauxhall announce on-the-road price reductions across every all-electric Corsa-e variant, with savings of more than £1,000 on-the-road for entry-level SE Nav Premium models.
All Corsa-e trim levels have also been renamed for 2021, and now include Premium as part of the new naming structure which means that the Corsa-e is available in SE Nav Premium, SRi Nav Premium and Elite Nav Premium.
New for Corsa-e 2021 model line-up is the sportier SRi Nav Premium trim which adds 17-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, specific SRi interior with red accents, dark-tinted rear windows and sports pedals.
