Renault Twizy

The futuristic Renault Twizy is a two seater, compact electric vehicle which allows driver and passenger to sit in tandem. It is the third of Renault’s Z.E. (Zero Emissions in use) vehicles to launch, following the Kangoo Van and Fluence , and sits in the range alongside the ZOE, Kangoo Van Z.E 33 and Master Z.E..

A 13kW (17hp) motor provides the Twizy’s power (through a leased rechargeable lithium-ion battery) with top speed limited to around 50 mph. Full charge takes three and a half hours using a standard-fit extending cable with three-pin plug housed under the front flap which means the vehicle can be charged from a standard domestic or workplace electricity supply. Renault claims that the range is 56 miles. Brake discs all-round bring the car to a stop. Clever beam wheel positioning, a built-in front deformable structure, side protection rails and driver’s airbag protection to vehicle occupants.

Three are three trim levels available: Expression, Dynamique and Cargo – the latter a single-seat car-derived van with a 180-litre, 75kg load area.

A wide range of options and accessories, both futuristic and conventional, are available including scissor doors, driver and passenger blanket, metallic paint, removable windows, clear sky roof (UV filter), child booster seat, coloured alloy wheels and vehicle wraps. ‘Design Your Own Twizy’ wraps allow customers to choose from a selection of existing designs or create their own bespoke version.
